Solved my skin bumps! READ UPDATE at the end...

This is, hands down, the best body lotion I've used. I have extremely dry, very fair (w/ freckles) skin and have had a lifetime of being embarrassed over the skin bumps on my arms and legs that were bad enough to make me wear long-sleeved shirts and pants in the hot summer months.

I started learning more about parabens potentially contributing to cancer (they've found parabens in the tumors removed from womens' breasts), among other things (I've gone organic/vegan wherever possible). While there are other good, all natural lotions (Hugo's Naturals is great!), I am more than willing to give up the 100% natural ingredients to make Alba's Very Emollient Body Lotion, Maximum Dry Skin Formula w/ AHAs my go-to lotion for life.

I have used PLENTY of lotions with AHAs and others that claim to be designed to heal skin bumps (there's a name for it that I can't think of, and if I could I wouldn't know how to spell it, and I don't want to look it up right now). I did not buy this lotion for my skin bump problem - I bought it because it was on sale, 100% vegetarian, and paraben-free. Low and behold...skin bumps VANISHED within a week!!! Not only is this a GREAT moisturizing lotion (I used to swear by Avon's Intense Moisture Therapy for skin moisturizing), it is light (but extremely effective), smells nice, and keeps my skin glowing and bump-free.

I'm a customer for life. Thanks Alba!

UPDATE (1/8/12): I bought the new, improved formula - twice. The first time I purchased the new, improved forumla I found the lotion to be gritty. I tossed the bottle without intending to ever try it again. Recently I ordered another bottle on Amazon, hoping to be shipped someones leftover original formula supply, though I received the new, improved formula. This time it wasn't at all gritty.

I don't notice an awful smell or burning like some others who've posted reviews. I also haven't had issues with my skin bumps returning, so I'm going to assume that the new and improved formula is just different. It still seems to work fine, but I wouldn't consider it "improved". It does seem, though, to be hit or miss regarding what you end up with. Others have claimed "faulty" product, as did I with my first "gritty" bottle. So, give it a try, but if you have sensitive skin try it on a small section for a few days first!

With this update and because of the uncertainty of the product from bottle to bottle, I'm changing my rating from 5 to 3 stars. It is now an average rather than awesome product.

THE NEW IMPROVED FORMULA IS HORRIBLE!!

I had been using Alba Botanica very emollient body lotion for close to 25 years and loved it, in fact it was the only body lotion that I wanted to use because it made by skin silky soft, but now that they have IMPROVED the formula it's not as good. I have stopped buying it, and will miss the old wonderful original formula!! The Shea Butter is not an IMPROVEMENT!! It feels pasty now.

Favorite Body Lotion

This is hands down my favorite body lotion. I have year-round dry skin, and it is so hard to find a lotion that will moisturize my skin thoroughly without leaving "build-up". The Very Emollient Body Lotion absorbs completely into my skin and moisturizes better than many other brands I have tried (Aveda, Lush, Bath & Body Works etc...). The fact that it absorbs completely makes it perfect for use in the summer. It's like I don't even have lotion on, just naturally healthy soft skin. I personally like the smell quite a bit. It smells like aloe vera and chamomile. It's clean, light, and--as another reviewer mentioned--does not conflict with perfumes.

**A Note to Buyers:
While the price listed is the average price you will see this lotion being sold for, I have found it at many stores for less. Mostly at stores that specialize in organics. I've seen it being sold at Whole Foods for $15 (regular price, not sale). So, check your local co-op, or Whole Foods.
