Soft feet, so nice.

40% Urea cream was originally proscribed by my doctor for the thick, hard, dry, cracking skin on my heals and sides of my feet. This over the counter cream provides the same fantastic results.

For the first week, I used it daily and wore socks. At the end of a week, my feet were soft and the damaged skin gone. No need for soaking, cutting, pumice stones, etc. To maintain my feet, I now use the cream twice a week.

I wish I had known about this years ago.

For specific conditions, this is a great product and great value

Urea dissolves keratin, and so softens and moisturizes skin. A dermatologist may recommend urea ointment to dissolve damaged or diseased nails, or to soften skin in psoriasis, eczema, or keratosis.

I've tried one name-brand and two generic prescription urea/lactic acid ointments. These have a slightly higher urea concentration (50%) and add lactic acid (which you can also buy separately over-the-counter). One of the generics was lumpy and clogged the tube's nozzle; the other generic dried quickly to a white power without providing any benefit. The name-brand ointment worked well, but at $90 for 1.5oz is prohibitively expensive.

Topix Urix is an odorless, creamy formulation that (for me, anyway) has the same skin-softening performance as the prescription ointments but at a price less than my prescription co-pay. It is not greasy and is absorbed quickly. If a urea ointment is appropriate for your skin condition, this is a great product.

Cleared my psorisis on hands and feet

I am 71 years old and have had psoriasis on mostly on my hands and feet for the last 60 years. Urix 40 has cleared my symptoms. WOW!!

My fingers especially the tips would have many very painful cracks, with having to wear 2-4 band aids on my hands most of my life. I even stopped wearing my wedding ring because of having to moisturize my hands so frequently. Have tried many, many things, including prescription ointments and creams. For the times when things got really bad, I would have to wear plastic gloves at night using the prescription ointments (not recommended by Dr. to do this, but it helped). I even have a prescribed home uvb light that I would use and things would improve for awhile, but then come back.

My feet especially around my heals and toes would crack very painfully with many calluses. It it hard to keep band aids on, and would have to use hydrocolloid band aids which are very expensive. I would even super glue the cracks closed to help the pain.
Through all my life I have been under the care of many dermatologists who have tried many things. My last dermatologist (have seen him for over 20 years) did prescribe urea lotion with mixed results. It was very expensive even with insurance. Many had a strong smell and sting painfully. The last urea ointment he prescribed 6 months ago, did seem to help some, but my insurance changed and would not cover any urea treatment. Out of pocket it would be very expensive $40-50 dollars for just a little tube.
I searched the web and found Urea 40 on amazon.com with many great customer comments. I order it and it was very surprised, over the first two months with the great improvement.

In summation, I know this is long and wordy, but after a lifetime -60 years- of psoriasis to finally find a solution is like a miracle. My hands are clear and I haven't used a band aid in the last 2 months. My feet are soft, with no cracks and are 95% clear of calluses. It even cleared the small patches of psoriasis on my elbows and knees. Change did not happen overnight, but within weeks of using Urix40 twice a day gradually things got better and better. When I saw my family doctor yesterday and he saw the improvement, he said he would spread the word among his patients.
I went to re-order and found out Amazon has raised the price of this in the last month. I did a search on the web and found it for less.
